Lauren Lemon Cards
I flipped over the paper, drew an oblong, bulbous yellow shape and carefully wrote "Lauren Lemon Cards" on the back of my mom's homemade birthday card. I was 8 years old, and I had just created my very first logo and brand design. For years after, every Mother's Day, Father's Day and birthday card was a Lauren Lemon Card.
Was I totally imitating my favorite and well-known card brand company with the infamous gold crown? Heck yes. Why lemons? I liked the alliteration with my name and the color yellow. Simple as that.
So many times we overcomplicate the design process, but we really don't have to. It can be as simple as your name and a color you like to get the brainstorm process going.
The first thing I like to do when beginning a web design is to open a blank Canva file (a Word document or Pinterest board works too) and start adding photos, elements and colors that evoke the person or brand I'm designing for. For your next design, even if just a social post, give this a try and let me know how it goes!
